High school physics teacher, Wim Cuppens from Belgium took part in GTTP@ESA training workshop in Amsterdam in November of 2010. With the knowledge and skills gained from the workshop, Cuppens implemented an annual astronomy program with his high school students.
Each year, Cuppens and his colleague Jo Palmers gather about 50 high school students and divide them into small groups. These groups get to do real science from measuring the rotation of asteroids, calculating distance of globular clusters and to hands-on activities such as mirror grinding for home-made telescopes.
