How do galaxies get their shape? Why does the Moon become red during a lunar eclipse? How can a gecko climb against a wall?
Students don’t have a solution ready for these problems just like that. By presenting the questions above like a mystery – a seemingly magical phenomenon – the teacher catches their interest and they will work towards an answer through enquiry. Leiden University offers secondary school Dutch teachers a free training on developing mysteries. Professional magician Tilman Andris unravels the fine art of presenting.
