The Dark Skies Rangers drawing contest invites students think outside the box and use their creativity to communicate causes and consequences of light pollution, raise awareness of the importance of using outdoor lighting that are energy efficient and that direct the light downward, contribute to the reduction of light pollution and the preservation of the night sky, promote interest in Astronomy in fellow students and public.
The contest is organsied by NUCLIO (Portugal) and is open for students between 5 to 10 years old around the world. The drawing must be original and produced individually in A4 format, according to the objectives of the contest. If the drawing include text, it must be in English or Portuguese.
Twelve drawings will be selected winners and will be added to the annual Dark Sky Rangers calendar. Both both students and their teachers will be recognised for their efforts with certificates from Núcleo Interactivo de Astronomia in Portugal. Winners will be announced on 3 June at the Festa das Estrelas.
