Agreement Signed with the Ministry of Education


NUCLIO signed an agreement with the Ministry of Education in Portugal to further collaboration and mutual support for science education projects, including Go-Lab. This agreement ensures endorsement for all the certification to teachers, schools and students involved in the projects. Among these projects are Inspiring Science Education, Go-Lab and Space Awareness.

Astronomy School for Students


The International School for Young Astronomers (ISYA) 2015 will be held at the Facultad de Ciencias Espaciales of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras, in Tegucigalpa, Honduras from 22 November 12 December.The objective of the school is to broaden the participants’ perspective on astronomy by lectures from an international faculty on selected topics of astronomy, seminars, practical exercises and observations, and exchange of experiences.

Spotlight for Portuguese Astronomy


Supporting the use of astronomy as a tool for development in specific region and languages, the International Astronomical Union’s (IAU) Office of Astronomy for Development (OAD) has established a Portuguese ‘Language Expertise Centre for the OAD’ (LOAD), hosted at Núcleo Interactivo de Astronomia (NUCLIO), in collaboration with the Institute of Astrophysics and Space Sciences in Portugal. The centre is one of the new coordinating offices announced at the IAU General Assembly in Honolulu, Hawaii on 13 August 2015.

SkyLight – a Global Science Opera is an ICT-based international creative education project within the Write a Science Opera (WASO) initiative and the EU Comenius Project “Implementing Creative Startegies into Science Teaching (CREAT-It)”. SkyLight has been endorsed by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) as an official project of the International Year of Light 2015 (IYL2015).
