Festival of Astronomy 2014, Ifrane

3rd Festival of Astronomy, Ifrane, Morocco will take place from 4 – 7 September 2014. The festival is organised by Al Akhawayn University under the theme ‘Astronomy in Popular Culture’. It’s under the scope of efforts of Al Akhawayn University in disseminating scientific knowledge to the general public and promoting science and science among young people to stimulate their interest in science and technology.

GTTP Poland 2014

On March 2014 at Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński School in Warsaw, Poland, Galileo Ambassador Paweł Ziemnicki organised a GTTP session on ‘How do objects move in the solar system?’. The programme engaged students from ages 11 to 16 years and their teachers. Throughout the workshop the activities were presented in more hands-on and creative method to increase the social engagement.

Vote for Go-Lab Videos!

The Go-Lab project hosted the “Go-Lab Summer Mini Video Contest” to encourage teachers and other interested parties to work with Go-Lab, make them more familiar with the idea of Go-Lab and become a part of the Project. Go-Lab invited people to create a 90-120 seconds video explaining the main idea of Go-Lab in an easy and inventive way. Show what Go-Lab is about and how you can use the Portal and online labs best.

Patrick Moore Medal

Nominations are invited for the award of the Royal Astronomical Society’s Patrick Moore medal. The medal is awarded annually for ‘a particularly noteworthy contribution to astronomy or geophysics by secondary school level teachers’.
Nominations can be submitted by anyone, including teachers who wish to propose themselves. There is no need to be a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society.
Further details and nomination forms are available. The deadline for receipt of nominations is 26 September 2014.
