ESA/GTTP Teacher Training 2015


The sixth edition of ESA-GTTP teacher training is now open for applications. The workshop will be held at the European Space Research and Technology Centre (ESTEC) in Noordwijk, the Netherlands, between 23 and 27 November, 2015. A limited number of places are available. Applications will be accepted until 09:00 CEST on 21 September 2015.

2015 OAD Call for Proposals


IAU Office of Astronomy for Development (OAD) launched it’s “Call for Proposals” for projects to be implemented in the 2016 calender year. The IAU has earmarked €110 000 for OAD projects to be selected in 2015 and implemented in 2016. This is an open call for project proposals, with individual project grants ranging from about €500 to about €15,000. The proposals will first be reviewed by the OAD for completeness, anonymised, and then sent to the appropriate Task Force. Task Force members will score the proposals based on the selection criteria above and make the appropriate recommendations for final funding allocation. The whole process will be overseen by the relevant OAD oversight structures.

Go-Lab Call for Schools


Are you a teacher? Do you want to enrich your classes with exiting experiments and appealing demonstrations? Do you want your students to get hands-on experience of doing science? Then join the Go-Lab project and its Pilot activities! Go-Lab will train you in using the online labs and the Go-Lab Portal, help you create inquiry learning scenarios for your classes and implement them in Inquiry Learning Spaces. You will get access to the online labs and use them together with your students!

ESO Astronomy Camp 2015


European Southern Observatory (ESO) and its Science Outreach Network are collaborating with Sterrenlab to host the third ESO Astronomy Camp on the topic of the Solar System and Extrasolar Planets from 26 December 2015 to 1 January 2016 at the Astronomical Observatory of the Aosta Valley, located in Saint-Barthelemy, Nus, Italy. The camp will explore the theme of the Solar System and exoplanets through lectures, hands-on activities, and nighttime observations with the telescopes and instruments at the Observatory, alongside various social activities, winter sports, and excursions.
